Wallpapered Envelopes

Emily from Design and Nonsense inspired me to make some wonderful envelopes.
This weekend seems to be jam packed with celebrations, and I thought now was the time to get crafty.
First off the wonderful women over at Allied Paints supplied
me with an entire book of free wallpaper samples for FREE.
Did I mention that they were free.
Sorry but I was just so excited!
They obviously were no longer using this book of samples.
So, as you may have guessed I am using the wallpaper samples to make these beautiful envelopes.

The How To:
1. Find an old envelope that you won't be sad to loose.
Undo the folds, and now you have a template.

2. Trace around the edge and then cut.

3. Simply enough you are going to fold around the edges, and then tape down where desired.
Make sure you don't tape it completely down. You still want
to be able to fit the card in.

4. Now you envelope is ready!

Obviously you can use paper, wallpaper, or whatever fun kind of paper you find to do this craft.
Now off to celebrate.

Happy Birthday to my brother,
 and
 Happy Anniversary to my parentals.

Liebster Award

I was super excited this morning when I got onto the computer and realized
that Emily from Design and Nonsense nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award.
As Emily let me know. . .
The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers with less than 200 followers.
Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome.

I am so honored that Emily nominated me for this awesome award.
In return I was told to tell 5 things about myself that my viewers may not know about me.

1. Red Velvet Cake is my ultimate fav.
2. Coffee always needs to be available.
3. If I don't have a huge stack of books by my bed then I can't sleep at night.
4. Turtles are my favorite animal.
5. My dream job is to be able to have Vanna White's Wheel of Fortune job.

Now to nominate a few fellow up and coming bloggers!
These are in no particular order.

If you were nominated please complete the next steps:

1. Post about your win on your blog.
2. Link back to the blogger that presented you with the award and follow their blog.
3. Copy and past the award button.
4. Present the Liebster Award to 5 blogs that have fewer than 200 followers that you think deserve the recognition.
5. Let them know by leaving a comment in their blog.

Make sure to check out the other blogs nominated, they are all awesome.
Thanks again Emily for nominating me.

Paneled 4th of July Dress!

I finally started and finished Cameron's 4th of July dress.
I'm really excited how it turned out, and I can't wait for the 4th.
I used the same idea that I used for my niece's panel dress.
Check out Brylee's Birthday Dress to see her dress.

I once again pretty much made a pillowcase and then made the dress.
Now that I have her old fashioned fabric hair bow, and
her panel dress were ready for the 4th.
Check out Fabric Bows to see my post on her hair bow.

Now for some fireworks, family, and food!

Fabric Bows!

Yes, that's my crazy daughter, and with a huge fabric bow in her hair.
Remember those old fashioned photos of little girls, who were never smiling,
but had huge fabric bows in their hair?
She may be exaggerating the "no" smile a bit.
Somehow the pictures were still cute.
I think it was the bow!

This year for the 4th of July I kept envisioning a huge bow, like the old days,
with her fun 4th of July dress that I still have yet to make.
Below is a photo of the bow with the 3 fabrics I chose for her dress.

Luckily I came across a easy tutorial for a fabric bow.
Check out Domestic Fashionista for the DIY tutorial.
It only took my about 30 minutes to make the bow, and it came out super cute.
I can't wait to put the whole outfit together.
Check back to see her 4th of July dress with her fabric bow.

Finally I need to catch you guys up on our sunflower progress. . .
the sunflowers are officially way above Cameron, and are about to bloom. Yay!

Have an awesome weekend!

T*shirt Headband!

I absolutely adore headbands.
They look cute on anyone, at any age, and with any hair style.
And recently I have been seeing these adorable t*shirt headbands all over the internet.
They are super easy to make, and at no cost.

I used an old grey t*shirt that no longer fits me.
You could use any old t*shirt that you aren't real fond of anymore.

For the step by step tutorial head on over to Sugar Bee Crafts.
I'm not going to give the step by step, because this is her craft, and don't want to steal her credit.

To seal the ends, I have heard of a few different ways that people finished them off.
Hot glue, or sewing the ends together.
I prefer sewing, because it seems to look a little cleaner, and
I just feel that it will be more secure that way.

Cupcake Liner Wreath

I have never been a wreath person.
A lot of times I find them to look tacky,
but lately when browsing the internet, or
magazines I have seen a lot of cute ideas.
So I finally got sucked into the wreathness excitement.

A fellow blogger that I follow made this adorable cupcake liner wreath,
and I absolutely adored it.
Follow this link to check out her wreath >>> Imperfect Home Making

I decided to use red, white and blue cupcake liners for the Fourth of July.

You will need a large amount of cupcake liners.
Sadly I wasn't counting how many I used.

Use a foam ring for the wreath, and pins to hold down the liners.

To see the step by step photos on how to make it check out Imperfect Home Making

Vacation Favorites

Last week we went on vacation to beautiful Cancun!
This explains why I'm behind on my post lately.
And I wasn't originally going to do a post on our trip to Cancun,
but we had so much fun
that I decided I wanted to share them with you.

A Few of my Vacation Favorites:

1. The ocean view.
This was the view from our hotel room.

2. Cameron's excitement to have her doll with her on vacation.
Cameron and Kit

 3. Flavored butter wrapped in tamale casings.

4. Being able to experience this vacation with family.
The dress Cameron is wearing is my old dress from when I was her age.

5. My silly husband. He is rarely serious, which makes each day fun.

6. The fun activities that were provided by the resort. . .face painting, shirt painting, and more.

 7. The friends Cameron made while on vacation.

8. Peter's photography skills.

9. The fun, and excitement my daughter had.

 10. The sunset.

Thanks for stopping by "Through Betsy's Looking Glass".
I will be back to crafting in a few days.
