Mermaid Party

Cameron had her Mermaid birthday party this weekend, that she has been patiently waiting for.
She got the idea for a mermaid party when we were in Cancun earlier this summer.

Candy, her fish, that she received for her birthday last year from her cousins was able to come to her party. I thought it was a fun little touch to add, and Cameron thought it was pretty cool that her fish came to the party. Below you can see the fish bowl that I etched Candy's name on to.

Oh, and the gorgeous pink seashell is one of many that my grandfather, Bobby, brought up from the ocean floor himself. He was a passionate scuba diver!

I thought since it was her birthday we could go a little overboard and only serve sweets.
The kids loved it!
In a way we had a mini candy bar.

The tablecloth's inspiration was mainly the ocean.

The cake stands were made from margarita glasses, vases, and glass plates found from goodwill.

And my wonderful sister*in*law made sugar cookies and decorated them so cute for the party.

My grandmother, who is our families own little Paula Deen, baked up a beautiful mini cake for Cameron. And the seashells were picked off the beach by my little cousin herself.

The signs below were made from a desk that I found on the side of the road.
I was wanting to make a few signs, but not wanting to spend anymore money on this party, and
I happened to see a run down desk on the side of the road.
So, my awesome Dad took the desk apart, and I used spray paint I had lying around and sprayed away.
I only wish my painting skills were a little better.

I had a lot of extra fabric lying around from other projects so I came up with this fun banner to decorate this old wooden chopping block.

And I couldn't resist serving blue koolaide and pretending that it was ocean water.

And notice the chalkboard I used for the entrance?
Yep, its the chalkboard I made for Cameron's room.

I made two cupcake wreaths for the entrance way as well.

I of course had to have an activity for the party.
So, we did seashell painting.
The kids absolutely loved it.

I also set up a mermaid banner, with Bubble Guppies, as the mermaids.
They were able to choose a mermaid and color away.

I couldn't resist in making a triangle banner.
I see these all over pinterest, and I think they are so adorable.

The little party dress that Cameron is wearing is a dress that my mother and I both made.
I started it, but got caught up in school, and wasn't able to finish so I had to pass it off for my mother to finish. To view my post on Cameron's party dress click here.

Everyone ended up having a great time!
I hope you all had a great weekend as well.

    1. Thanks! I found the seashells at Hobby Lobby. The starfish I bought as a large bag with about 20 in them, and the large shells I bought individually, but they were limited on how many they had. I have also seen ceramic shells at Michaels Craft Store. Good Luck! I hope you find them.
